Superintendent of Public Instruction and candidate for Montana's only seat in the U.S. House Denise Juneau today announced she'll be touring the state to meet with workers and business owners. That announcement was punctuated by endorsements from Montana's largest labor unions.

"As I hit the road to listen to the needs of Montana's employers and workers, I'm pleased to know I have the support of the groups that represent thousands of Montana workers and their families," Juneau said.

Denise Juneau announced her jobs tour in Billings outside an under-construction middle school with Montana labor leaders Fran Schweigert, Scott McCulloch, Jim Larson and Amy Hauschild.

Unions representing more than 55,000 educators, city, state, and municipal workers, fire fighters, police officers, construction workers, engineers, artists, postal workers, bus drivers, highway patrol officers, road crews and more are standing with Juneau.

After completing candidate interviews, MEA-MFT, AFSCME, Teamsters and AFL-CIO have all endorsed Juneau for Montana's seat in the U.S. House of Representatives.

"Denise knows how to bring people together to get things done," MEA-MFT President Eric Feaver said. "Her Graduation Matters Montana initiative is a case in point. It brings together parents, students, business leaders, community members, and educators to work toward a common goal -- getting every Montana student through high school ready to succeed. It has been a phenomenal success. That's the kind of leadership we need in Montana and the nation."

"Montana's working families have a fighter in Denise Juneau," AFSCME Montana Council 9 Executive Director Timm Twardoski said. "As an unwavering advocate for fairness in the workplace and opportunity for all working families, Denise shares the values of our members. Her vision to make sure the next generation of Montanans are prepared to compete in the global workforce, while expanding opportunity for all Montanans is exactly what Washington needs right now."

"It is clear that Superintendent Juneau stands with the values of the Montana Labor movement. Her support of all workers right to collective bargaining and her clearly stated opposition to all forms of Right-to-Work were key factors in the board's decision," said Montana AFL-CIO Executive Secretary Al Ekblad. "Juneau has consistently stood with Montana workers. As a U.S. Representative, she will continue that good work."

"Denise Juneau is exactly the leader Montana's working families need right now," said Jim Larson, Secretary/Treasurer of Teamsters Local 190. "Unlike anyone else in this race, she will put politics aside in Congress and get things done for the middle class."
